I had finished a carving, shut the machine off. went to vacuum the dust up. it shocked me with a small arc from the machine to the nozzle on the vacuum
when i loaded the card and went to start these appeared. Carvewright says they havent seen them before. he is checking with others there.
    flash card has been reformatted
just curious folks. Im probably going to send the card and controller to them to check it out.
    thanks

Those are the same symbols that were on the debris from the Roswell crash!

Seriously, might be a good idea to have one hand on a metal part of the machine while vacuuming. That's what I do and haven't fried any electronics from the thousands of volts created by those nasty 'shop vac' hoses!

I knew it. The machine was made by aliens!

Too bad, computer could be fried. Try pressing buttons like you would to start a project. If the machine responds, maybe it is just the display driver. Hope.

Have you tried a different card? The static jolt may have damaged it.

I might add that I NEVER use a vacuum. The dust collector and the Carvewright are connected to the same ground source and to clean up the residual sawdust I use low pressure compressed air. I'd rather clean up a little bit of sawdust on the floor than risk a static discharge through the machine. Works for me. As far back as I can remember (which sometimes isn't very far) I've never had a static discharge through the Carvwright.

A good practice/habit to use when you do vacuum is to make sure the machine is turned off, keep the hose away from the keyboard end of the machine and always have one hand on the machine.

that looks something like what mine did……. it was the ribbon cable going to the display.
crank the head up as far as you can and on the keypad side inside the machine there is a plastic shield for the cable, remove it and unplug and replug the cable a couple times.
that fixed mine…….but didn't have a static discharge

Sad to read of the death of a perfectly good machine.... Just say NO to Vacuum Hoses...
