Thread: The CarveWright Kitchen

  1. Default The CarveWright Kitchen

Finally! After four years in the making, our kitchen is finally finished. Working as we had the time and could free up some spare cash, this kitchen gradually came to life. Oleanna (my wife also featured as a model in this album) was very patient. After she saw the first cabinet carved with grapes and celtic knots, she vowed to support the project until it was completed.

The wood used is oak and purple heart. The purple heart is a very dense wood and I went through lots of cutting bits before this kitchen was finished. The counter tops were covered with flooring tile with a pattern and color that complimented the colors of the wood.

One notable feature of this kitchen is the tall arches for the two entrances. This is one area where the CarveWright shines as it was able to carve the tall sides with a continuous (11 hour) carve from solid oak boards.

Hey Frederick... just wondering if Purple Heart is fairly easy to find up your way. You've done some amazing things with it and it looks great. I bet you get a lot of compliments on that kitchen cabinetry. Did you get the grape & vines pattern from the pattern store or is it something that you've created yourself? Kitchen looks fantastic and then again it's probably Oleanna that makes it look even better. Hey ..... maybe we should all start a vote to have Oleanna do some pics showing off the Carvewright! ha Sales would increase! ha ha Just kidding amigo. Your photography work is truly amazing and you and yours are at the top, but then I guess you know that.

    Jerry,
Purple heart is getting harder to find. There are two kinds, African and Brazillian. This is Brazillian. If you can find some purple heart, it is a great wood to use if you want to hold the fine detail of the pattern. Absolutely you need to use the "optimal" setting when carving this because it is so dense, trying to carve at a faster speed is likely to either cause an error or break the bit. The grapes patterns were bought from Vector Art. Hey, if CarveWright needs a model, no problem!

Your kitchen is beautiful and speaks for itself. I don't know why you feel you need to try to sell us on it by placing your cat in the photos.

WOW, what a beautiful job you did on your kitchen, and both your photographs and Oleanna look beautiful too (as always). You've really transformed the room into a very special space and really should be proud-

    Well done,
    Lawrence

    Frederick,
What dedication you've show and what masterful creation and execution of the whole. So many outstanding details and superb fitting to as you noted out of square surfaces. And then to grace it all with the lovely Oleanna . . . and we're also glad your cat likes it too. A real tour de force Sir. Thank you for sharing all the details and congratulations on this whole creation.
