This egg and dart molding was scanned from a small piece from my friend's circa 1900 house. Most off the shelf egg and dart moldings these days are not routed very deep. We needed to replace a 4 foot section. All worked well, but I did need to plane down the back side a bit for an exact match. I used poplar, but had some chip out on the dart stems. Since this was painted over, MDF may have worked better. He had price quotes from commercial mills that almost matched the price of the Carvewright.
Here is one I did.. not happy with the picture quality but it was the best that I had at the time.... I think it's funny though.
