Very nice work on the crib.
Congratulations on the new arrival. I too became a grandpa on the 23. LIttle Cooper arrived 6/23. Makes #10 for me.

Awesome! Congratulations twice and to you too Eddie!

    I have two myself.

#1 Ethan is 2.5 years (he arrived a day and a half before Hurricane Ike hit us-hospital kicked him and his momma out just in time to ride in the heavy traffic out of it's direct path up through Galveston)

#2 Peyton just turned one on 5/23. She was early too and weighed only 4 lbs 7 oz. She's a chubby little thing now! She caught up quick.

Great job. Those will surely be family heirloom pieces.

Here's the latest from the government. They are no longer allowing anyone to sell or manufacture cribs with slide down sides.
They cannot even be sold at garage sales or flea markets . I'm sure this also means we as woodworkers cannot make cribs with slide down sides. When I made a crib back in the '70's I did research and there are guide lines for making cribs on the net.
    Maybe someone knows the site.

Here goes big brother once again!

All of my kids had a crib with slide down sides as did all of my grand kids. Guess what? They all survived! Amazing isn't it!

And how do they intend stop private sales, patrol garage sales and fee markets. How many more people will they have to hire to do that.

Sorry, climbing off my soap box.

On the up side it should be easier to build a crib with a flop/flip down side.Click image for larger version.

BTW That is a beautiful crib that you built. You have some real skills.

I took it by the news report that the sides had to be attached . Not fold down, slide down etc. Thats going to be hard to reach down into the crib, especially if the parent is short, or should I say " hieght challenged ".
