Software for creating patterns.

I know that some people use corel Draw to create paterns. But can this version be used found it on Amazon through deal news for $52. The version is Corel draw suite X5: home and student. If this will work for pattern making thats a small investment. Any one with info on it?

Take a look at a program called "Paint.Net" It's free at www.paint.net. I've been using it for the past four years and has done everything I wanted to do. The only difference I noticed was the gray scale is calibrated from 0 to 100 (white to black) as opposed to most other programs that that have a gray scale of 0 to 255. (white to black)
