    Default Beer Mug

Finally got another machine. Here's my first project on it: a beer mug. Seems fitting, somehow....

Nice! That'll come in handy while you're waiting for carves to finish!

Thanks, Guys! Feels good to be carving again.

Does it hold beer? You bet it does! Two part epoxy coating on the inside, stain and poly on the outside. The manufacturer of the epoxy rates it as food safe. But it's not for hot beverages. Talked to their rep to make sure of that before I ordered it.

Wow! Those turned out great. Would love to understand how you made your pattern. One of these days, when my brain gets beyond doing flat boards, I'd like to tackle a project like that.

Did you use STL? How did you make them?

No STL. It's all in the sled I built to hold them. I'd grab a photo of it, but it's in the machine cutting another mug right now. The sled pinches the work piece between the two ends tight enough that there is no chance of it moving. That lets me 'float' the piece at the right height to cut the next side. Then, just keep turning and carving!
If people are really interested in seeing it, I'll take a picture when the machines done.

What it's cutting now is a design for the tulip festival in Holland Michigan coming up the first of May. I have a buddy that sells up there, and he wants to take some up with him and see how they sell there. I just may show up myself...
