Thread: Rock Chuck & RingNeckBlues Caught On Tape with the Carvewright

Talking Rock Chuck & RingNeckBlues DC Insert Demonstration Video

I thought I would post a small video of the Rock Chuck and RingNeckBlues in action. Please note that I haven't cleaned my machine in over a month and that is after doing several carves.

I would have stripped the audio out of the clip but I do not have any editing software loaded on my machine at this time.

Carve was set to a depth of .600 on hard maple & using my smaller 650 CFM DC for this clip.

    PCW,
    Great video!
It's a good plug for the Rock Chuck, and any of the "Top Mounted" Vacuum attachments. It , also, shows that a DC system of 600 CFM or better will do the job.

One thing I did notice, is that your carving bit is showing wear, as the lead edge of the wood is curling.

    Bud.

If I would have had your DC insert installed I would have posted it as well because I'm sure it is equally efficient . Point I'm trying to make is the machine can be fun and enjoyable if you give it a little help.

I was 1 of the first 50 members to buy the Rock and I have been using Floyd's (RingneckBlues) top mount DC insert for several months now and the combination has drastically reduced my down time.

I noticed the bit getting a little dull but was just trying to squeeze a little more life out of her.

BTW: What someone needs to do is start up a cross ship bit sharping service. Save your bits.

I was going to ask what the Floyd insert was, but I figured it out, da.
The audio just proves what others have been saying, didn't hear the screeching, or high pitched noise. Good job, by the way is your unit stripped down to bare min?

  8. Thumbs up That was amazing!

Thank you for posting that, as I have a Rock installed and have been contemplating the DC insert. This may have just made up my mind...
Back when I was a boy, we carved our own IC's out of wood.
