Hey Robert,
Thank you for that all around saving tip. I had that happen just last evening but didn't know if anything could be done about it.
I appreciate these things since I've been carving for only a couple of weeks. I try my best to answer my questions by searching but am never quite sure what words to search on.
Something else I read tonight but have no clue about.... "the easy off oven trick". Could you and would you please help me with that question. I'm just batting "0" tonight.
Again thanks for all us newbies.

I love to learn and realize I've chosen the right hobby (?) to do that.
Somewhere, I read the words "air carving" to restart a carving after such problems... but that was before I knew anything about carving. I know I could never find it again.... and I'm not completely sure about the process.
I know this is boring to many of the ole time carvers so let me express my gratitude to them for their patience.
You were a blessing, Robert. Thank you.
Would love to see the forum have a "newbie tip & tricks" section for just such info. That would be awesome!

Hi Nikki,
The term Air Carving is used a couple ways with these Machines.
One is re-starting a partially carved project form the beginning again to complete the Project,
until it catches up to the un-carved portion of the board it is said to be Air Carving.
Another time it's sometime used, is when for one reason or another
the Bit doesn't come all the way down in the "Z " Axis to the board surface,
but continues to make passes above the board in the "Y" Axis
as the project also continues the move in the "X" Axis, thus Air Carving.
There may be others, but these are the most common I've heard.

I think obsession would more properly define what goes on with these machines!!

You are so right!
It's my new addiction. It started with the first time I carved a pattern.
Dang, didn't know people could have so much fun.. and it's legal!
My mother was an accomplished pianist and often talked about not being able to sleep at night because the music didn't stop in her head.
Now I completely understand.... I'm not able stop the designing video that goes on in my head. That project list keeps getting longer. Believe it will never be completed.

Its funny how that works huh (project list getting longer and longer)... I thougth that by adding a second machine I would be able to make a big dent in my project list. This is one of those situations where theory doesnt match practice. It seems to be more related to powers of 2. Get a second machine and your project list will increase 2 fold.. and a third and now it 8 times longer, 4th machine.. list is 16 times etc etc.... I don't know how the people with 5-6 machines manage to get anything done!

if those dont answer your questions, please feel free to ask
