    Joe,

I don't have the software but I'm interested to see what some of the others that do come up with. There is no limits to what you can make. Let your imagination run wild.

Default I've been a lot busier since the stl tool came out

I was having a lot of trouble getting models into the bitmap form but now the only issue i have is my lack of skills on the 3d program

Anyone else using Rhino? I'm trying to slice up a Strat neck and am ending up having problems with the inside of the neck being hollow after i slice it...

LiquidGuitar - how did you do your Les Paul neck? I tried doing it in 3 pieces with a scarf joint for the headstock but now i'm having second thoughts and am thinking of doing it like Benedetto does with 3 full length slices the of flatsawn maple plus the 2 ears for the headstock.

If the inside of your mesh is hollow after slicing in the STL importer, it is probably because the mesh is made of separate parts. It needs to be a single, closed mesh. If the slice crosses a break in the mesh, the importer seems to have trouble capping it. You may need to "weld" the meshes together.

We owe a lot to Thomas Edison - if it wasn't for him. we'd be watching television by candlelight.

I am cutting the neck down the center into 4 pieces then flipping the parts 90..

    Default STL software

yeah, it's amazing how much faster things are. I spent days trying to get the conversion right for the bump maps. With the STL it only took a couple of minutes. They ought to think about including the software with the machine since it will probably sell a lot more machines.

    Default my tank

Ok, I promised a few days ago I'd show the rest of my tank build. Well here it is with a fresh coat of primer! Turret swivels and everything. It doesn't roll though, gonna have to try that next time. I do still have painting to do, but it's basically done. Gotta go get some army green paint now.
