When you say it wouldn't measure a board - what went wrong in the measuring process?
I had thought about it, but I really want the scales on the dragons' back/tails to be carved... which means I have to slice them off somehow, since leaving them on the sides like that would make it...
I have used the STL importer for my rotary jig, and for very simple .stl models which are straightforward - just slice off a side or two, maybe the front and back, and then make 0.5" or 0.75" slices...
I have done that in the past, and I replaced the close cover switch a few years back because of it. (I did manage to upgrade to a 3rd party switch which was much more robust in the process...)
...
So after having checked them multiple times as best I could - the switches seemed to be working. But when I bypassed the cut motor switch, it turned out to be the culprit. So a fairly simple and...
I am working with Floyd through messenger to try and fix this, but I'm open to any/all other suggestions anyone else may have.
Last week my flexshaft started intermittently chattering in the...
Gotcha. Did I miss that somewhere before, or was everyone else just able to figure it out on their own without asking, lol?
I did use post 16 in setting the depths. Just hoping I got it right.
But I just tried to use them and I hit a bit of a snag... either I misdesigned it when I did the redesign, or I don't...
I know this is super old, but I'm exploring using these for 1/2" stock (actual thickness varies from 0.425" to 0.525", depending on my source and if I have to plane it at all...)
Here's how I...
I did not knowingly/intentionally install the VC++ distribution. When I opened Designer the other day, it routed me to the website to update. I downloaded and ran the installer. I do not recall...
I have no idea if this is just me, or what, but the GUI on the latest update is in many, many ways just all messed up. I haven't noticed a single improvement to the software, only negatives.
...
I noticed in the update notes for 3.103:
How does this affect those of us without newer cutmotors?
I have only done it a few times, so maybe I mistakenly did something else to make it work, but I know I have assigned a bit at full depth and then added tabs, in the past. (And that the tabs held...)...
You're using the cut path tool, so it automatically adds tabs (you have it set to a minimum of 7 tabs, with 7 tabs per foot of the outline). It just doesn't show the tabs in designer, and there's no...
As to the size of the cane; the handle is thicker than 1", which is why I went with a thicker board. And I did only eyeball/guesstimate it, but I am pretty sure I set it so it will carve 1/2" deep as...
Aaaaaaand... as soon as I posted this I noticed one issue which I needed to fix (and have already fixed) - the channel for the metal rod now stops 0.5" from the top of the cane.
I will have to use...
Trying to make my first cane.
I made it a few inches long; I figure I can trim the length to be just right. Plus the ferrule/rubber tip I plan to use is slightly adjustable to dial it in just...
So I have a large sign I am making, in 3 carves; each about 9.5" by 41", carved from a 10.5"x48" board (3 48" 1x4's glued up).
The first board carved and cut out just fine.
But the second...
I thought about it.
For that I would need the 2D Tools' trace image feature, though.
At least, to do it well.
And I haven't gotten that add on yet.
I decided to bite the bullet while the sale...
I have a customer for whom I've made a few smaller signs, and one larger sign...who now wants a new, even larger sign. It is fairly simple; mostly letters and a bell shape, which she wants all...
Okay, your reply got me thinking.
I knew beyond any doubt that I had worked with arcs and lines before.
The only thing I wasn't sure I had done in the past was using tangent vertices.
So, I...
That really sucks...because the main reason to copy/flip is to ensure the dozen or so arc segments are perfectly mirrored.
If I convert to lines and back, I lose the arc profiles I had set.
And...
So, using the connected line, line, and arc tools, plus a couple of vertices changed from free to tangent, I created half of a shape.
This is far from the first time I have done this.
I then...
I had switched from clip to merge - but I think I was using clip on the rectangle, not the large circle.
And it never even occurred to me to use two arcs versus a circle.
Good lord I get tired of...
So the attached PTN file is my problem file.
I have two circles I want to decorate with text. I want the one, 'ALABAMA' to be centered across the top. The other, 'CRIMSON TIDE' should be centered...
