I'll need to look them up. Just to be sure I don't misquote. And your right. I do 12 hour carves weekly. At least one or so. I have one machine that is all it does. Then another just for the short...

Bought them on ebay. That way I got a little more bang for my buck. I'll try to find the item numbers.
The VV bearings have worked great for me. The only thing I would note is as we tested the different bearings I did have a couple tolerance rings go. I believe from taking bearings in and out so much....
I will say this...it goes on with ease. And does work like a rock chuck. It's just loud. It sings just about as loud as the original qc.
It's loud. Not balanced. Has documentation on it regarding to adjusting a sleeve inside it to balance it if need be. It works in a pinch. But LOUD!
I've had a few y belts lately that the teeth have worn down on causing a slip.
Don't forget to check that the Z encoder isn't spinning freely on the shafts on the back of the Z motor.
I think it was an original motor. So I would say we'll over 1000. That's a guess though. My oldest machine, "old timer", is about 80 hours away from the illustrious 3000 hour mark. With 400 hours...
I have had a bearing go. On the side that connects to the flex. Go might be a harsh word. It still spun cleanly. Just tight.
That is solid. So, go the the candlestonegift website for the candlestone and the light kit? Then the picture frame at Kmart? The rest is as is I take it...I will just ask, will you brain dump all...
Anyone have any idea when they will have cut motors in stock? Or rebuilds again? Need to order a Y belt so looking to bundle...
It's at least a couple years old and I pm them every 150 hours, average about every other month for each machine. So1800? Ish?
Very busy for sure. It looks pretty wore down to me. And the bearing has a bit of play. But the rest of it looked good. If memory serves this was a rebuild from cw. So it lasted a couple years. And...
Agree to both. I was so hot when I first caught it I posted without investigating. I put 2 new brushes in and went back to carving and on 2 hours to finish the carve it wore away half the brush. Even...
I knew what you meant. I changed the brushes on the fly and I can hear myself talk in a normal voice, I am pretty sure the motor is shot...
I was already leaning toward a motor, and honestly may just change it out, as I have spares. But inferior brush material??? That doesnt sound quite kosher...
Ummm...did I miss something? I just got a whole 14 hours out of these....

Definitely curious now... what's the recipe. How many parts steel wool to vinegar? And what did you apply it with? Just trying to forego the rookie mistakes if you have it figured out. Impressive...
I assume that was just a pattern carve set deep enough to pierce thru the cork?
A problem I just had on my oldest carver, one of the upper roller bearings was frozen. Had to remove the truck and give it some wd40. Good as new.
I have found that even though I religiously change the bearings the shafts still wear. I am on my last good shaft. The shafts are really what I need. Maybe be time to call a favor in at the...
Anyone know if the big white gear is available? I perused the CW site and came up with nothing. I am hoping I am overlooking it.
I tried my hand today at carving some small lettering using the 30 degree bit from Drillman1. Came out nice. However I think my font selection could have been better. Any suggestions on what font to...
We're you carving or cutting? My flexshafts are always smooth but when I cut they get jittery. A dull bit will transmit some vibration as well. And what kind of lube are you using?
Well #3 for some reason had both "Z" style bearings. I dont remember doing that but maybe thats all I had when I built than one up. Going to load a short carve to break the "VV" ones in, 6 hours...
