Looking for a Spray film I can buy locally came up with this interesting product... http://www.autozone.com/landing/page.jsp?name=3m-paint-defender-spray-film - It's a spray on film for automotive...
First of all, I am not talking about text. I am talking about importing some artwork and having Designer look at the lines, create a centerline vector and then carve the artwork, making changes in...
If the process hasn't changed, you can do v-carve but you can't do what most people want to do with is CENTERLINE V-carve so the thickness/depth of the carved line varies to match the imported...
I have had some success with the Marsh inks but you can still get some issues in porous woods like OAK where the ink gets down into the pores. I think a combination of a stencil film applied prior...
they replied to me and said they have no further plans to support the PTN format. All their files are available in STL so... better for CW I guess ;) - means possible sales of the STL add-on
will do, Connie!
Not sure why they didn't renew or lost their license but the Pattern Depot suffers because of it :(:(

I have tried using GIMP but I just can't get the process right and it's just easier for me to pay for the files I need. Once again though, I am looking at the add-ons for Designer and I'm...
BUMP... I am pretty surprised this thread died. I just downloaded this to my iPad today and I'm going to set up my first 3D scan sometime today.. I don't have the STL importer so I won't be testing...
I think I may have just figured out a fix for the bug... I deleted Line 2 and then created a new line, placed it so the Cut Path tool was active, applied the cut path and then put all my attachments...
I frequently have trouble with the cut path tool not working unless I fidget with the line I want to apply that tool on. It can be quite annoying, especially when I am using attachments and locking...
There are issues with vectors that overhang the edge of a project board. All I use my machine for 99% of the time is running carves that cross over two project boards which represent cabinet doors....
Maybe I'm being overly picky about how Centerline carves but there is jaggedness is that image above that I will note is most likely not visible in the actual font glyphs. It becomes more noticeable...
I still haven't upgraded to 3.0 ( I'm still on 1.187 since it does everything I need it to ). I know there were supposed to be improvements to the Centerline algorithms and I would like to see if...
Thanks again for the replies. Turns out it was the bit geometry and the size of the pattern on that initial project board. The actual project will span two boards and the pattern will be scaled up...
Hey BJB, I will PM you when I get home. Can't seem to figure out how to pm you from tapatalk app. Thanks :)
Hey guys, thanks for the replies so far. The pattern is actually going to be doubled in scale so maybe those problem areas will go away. I had not thought about the bit geometry being an issue. I...
Did that after I took the screenshot and no improvement. I just added a link to the actual pattern file which can be opened in the PE and then someone can place it on a project board and see if you...
Here is the Pattern file. When opened in the the P.E. program you can see none of those artifacts are visible between the feathers that you see when placed on the project board.
I can't attach...
I have worked up a logo for carving using GIMP. When I import the file to Designer ( 1.187 still ) the preview looks great and exactly what I expected to see. However, once the pattern is imported...
Just to jump back a few days, you mentioned you weren't able to get the same results I was using the ScanFont software... if you tried to feed it the pdf image your customer sent you that would be...
I have done this in the past with v-carves that needed islands of wood leveled out but I instead do it by hand in the shop with a router because it's a bit faster but it's a good point to note!

This seems to be the stinging point on this whole subject. Not the price but the fact that a simple mention of the new version coming just around the corner would possibly be the better upgrade...
Michael, that is a nice example and looks like it came out great! I'm very excited about this new feature set...even if it means I'll need to plunk down about $500 in software upgrades... ouch.
