CC great buy with new 5 year Warranty
I picked up my CompuCarve from the store one week ago and decided that I would push it to see if it had any problems so I could return it, if necessary, during the first 90 days as Sears permits. I have now done twenty five projects testing various features on several different woods, Polycarbonate and HD foam.
Thus far (surprisingly) no problems at all, it performs as advertised. But I was concerned that I was putting a big dent in the base warranty of 200 hours.
So, as noted elsewhere on the Forum, I decide to pursue the alleged extended warranty from Sears.
I bought Warranty this afternoon. 5 year Warranty $46.73, with no limitation on hours as with the CW warranty.
My extended warranty runs through 1/24/2012. It is the standard Sears Bench Top tool Warranty, with no special exceptions for the Compucarve.
I got it by calling the number at the back of the Operator's Manual - 1-800-827-6655.
The Sears operator looked up the model number 133.217540 and the system said Warranty was available for $46.73. I questioned the low price and he said that was what the system said, so I bought it. Certificate is in the mail.
The machine may blow up later tonight, but with the extended warrany I feel fairly secure and thus far well satisfied.
I am also confident enough that I ordered the Probe and the bit set, although they are back ordered until at least mid February.
Curious about the CW purchasers.
Now that we know the extended warranty from Sears exists, based on the several people who have purchased it in the last 24 hours, what happens to the people who refused to buy from Sears and went directly to CW or who bought before Sears offered the CC.
Can they get an extended warranty.
I order a Probe from CW because Sears apparently does not offer it as yet. What kind of warranty do I get with it?
Sears 5 Yr Warranty - "Does not exist"
Stopped at Sears. Called Sears "Protection Plan" number listed in the back of the manual. Talked to the manager of the center. It does not exist. He made it sound like it might in the future, but at present, they are refusing all attempts at an extended warranty. They have been notifying all of their agents not to sell the Warranty extension. Looks like they are "blackballing" the machine. Make your own oppinion, but mine has been lowered as far as the "Craftsman" name is concerned. Used to be they stood behind their product. So, to the few that say they got a 5 year warranty, you're either LUCKY or you've been Duped! (-$46.73) Good Luck
