Hello

I'm doing a lot a stair post similar to the attache file (sp035jpg)

I'm using the Classical bit to grove a rectancle on each 4 sides of the post.

My problem is that the rectangle are not located at the same height on the post when I route them.

Anyone of you can help me please.

The MPC file is attached to help your understanding.

Thanks for your help!!!

Fardoche,

Were the rectangles off by much?
I noticed a couple of things that might help.
There was no attachment to the end or middle - firmware changes make me cautious.
There is less than 3/8" left on the edges for the brass roller,I would make sure the edges are taped for the sensor.
Getting a 4 X 4 to be true enough to retain contact with the brass roller might be a tough thing to accomplish.

No good answer for you!

I know a lot of people here have no other tools, but if I had to do that I would bust out my router and have that done in a tenth of the time and more accurately than the CW can accomplish.

I say more accurately with a router because you can more easily adjust for the 4x4 not being perfect in all three dimensions, which it really needs to be when using the CW for this type of operation.. Some things are better done or at least more easily done with traditional shop tools and I think this may be one of them.

I attached my router section to the lowest part of the post and it's work just fine.

Only 1/32" of difference!!!

Hope this help!:)
