Can someone tell me what this is and where it came from?

STOP! That is the tolerance ring from the lower spindle bearing, don't run the machine until you call CarveWright. Give their tech support crew a call and they can get you fixed up.

It's a bearing spacer ring from up inside of the carving head on the "Z" Truck
mine fell out a couple of times

Thanks for the help. I will call CW. I was doing a project and heard a different noise but could not figure out what it was. It finished the work and when I was cleaning up is when I found it. It was down between the two sand paper rollers.

I had the Y truck to get loose on the rail and was causing the bit to miss the work peace at times.

I talked with CW and they were very good to help but I do not understand just how the roller bearings work as for as tension to the rail. I was told to get 12 MM flat wrench and turn the nuts on the back counter clock and it worked but I don't understand just how. Do you know how hard it is to find a 12 MM flat wrench here in Greenwood. You can't. I had to grind down one but I have the screw on the Y truck bottom right under the rail that is loose. I can not tighten this screw no matter what I do.

I have got to understand just how all this works if I am to change out.

Thanks for the help

The hole through the roller axle is off center, it's a cam. Thread a small screw off-center on the end of a dowel rod and you'll see how it works.

I got it now. Just thinking here. Would loosen then to lift the truck off the rail?
I don't get a whole lot of straight friendly doings from the book. Mine, I guess is a little different because of being a new module.
Some of the things I see in the manual is not what I see when I get the cover off.

As you can see by the pictures, one set of bearings have a hole drilled offset making it an eccentric bearing. The first bearing picture shows where I put my favorite red nail polish on the flat that should face out when the bearing is tight and closed or in it's most closed position. It's a cam... Max closure is the correct tension.

OK... My favorite color for a girl to use..... Snicker... Paint just did not stick very well, nail polish worked great.

The trick to tighten it is to only hold the screw and use the wrench to turn the nut. The screw heads strip very easy.

When loose, I snug up the screw with the wrench holding the bearing flat facing out. I then back off the wrench 1/8 of a turn, snug up the screw with the screw driver and then tighten the wrench. The trick is getting it tight and not too tight and snapping the screw.

It's a fine balance between tight and SNAP..... Careful...

With both bearings loose you can remove the truck from the rail. Works the same with the Y and Z after you remove the drive motor. The Screw Spring on top of the Z Motor and the Y Spring under the Right side cover comes off first.
